Aqua Cup

at Aquarium Kurzbauergasse, Academy of Fine Arts Vienna

with Amar Priganica

The site-specific installation »Aqua Cup« uses it’s gallery space as a starting point to explore neutral simplicity as a central element of the contemporary white cube. The installation consists of an Apple computer and outward-facing floodlights, attached to the glass front of the exhibition space using suction cups. A monitor, also attached with suction cups, displays a 3D animation of the gallery space with the original stone walls replaced by glass. The sleek design language of the rendering references the modernist architecture of the New York Apple flagship store, reflecting the aesthetic parallels between exhibition spaces and high-street stores.
